Thomas Sidney Cooper R.A
Thomas Sidney Cooper was born in Canterbury, England, in 1803. He studied in Brussels with the Belgian animal painter Eugene Verboeckhoven. After returning to England, Cooper specialized and excelled in painting sheep and cattle. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert commissioned Cooper to paint their herd and were delighted with the results. Cooper lived for 99 years and still holds the record for exhibiting 266 pictures at the Royal Academy, never missing a year.
