Franz Moormans was a very well-known 19th Century Dutch artist born in 1831, in Rotterdam. He was mainly a painter of genre scenes and
portraits. He was a student at the Fine Arts Academy of Antwerp and a Professor at
the Amsterdam Academy of Fine Art. He appeared in various expositions,
notably at the Salon of French Artists of Paris, where he was a medal holder for
the Universal Exposition. Today his paintings can be seen at the Montreal and
Rouen Museums of Fine Art.
