Alfred Pollentine
Alfred Pollentine is best known as a painter of Venetian scenes, although he did also paint some English coastal views. His paintings are topographical landscapes, which means they are a factual record of a place. These paintings were most likely painted for he tourist to take home as a souvenir and were very popular during the Grand Tour heritage of this time. He exhibited works at the British Institution and Society of British artists from 1861 to 1880. R.J. and W.H. Pollentine are also recorded artists. They were probably all related to each other, but nothing is known of them.
