James Kay

James Kay, a Scottish artist, was born in 1838 or 1858 in Lambash and died in 1942. He was a painter of genre scenes, landscapes, and nautical scenes and worked in gouache and watercolor. James lived in Glasgow and holds a distinguished place in the history of the Glasgow School. He was made a member of the Royal Scottish Watercolours Society. He took part in the Universal Exposition of Paris in 1900, and exhibited at the Salon of French Artists of Paris in 1903 where he won a third place medal. He also participated in the Exposition of Brussels in 1910.
