Henry Moore R.A

Moore was the son and pupil of the portrait painter William Moore. He continued his studies at the Royal Academy schools. Early in his career, Moore painted landscapes in the Pre-Raphaelite style. Later he turned to marine painting, for which he is now celebrated. He concentrated on experimenting with the effects and moods in his seas, his technique becoming so fluid as to render the results almost impressionistic. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1853 to 1895, and during the 1880's and 1890's was regarded as one of England's most important artists.
