Albert (Paul-Albert) Bartholome
Albert Bartholome studied law and fought in the Franco-Prussian war before attending the Ecole des Beaus-Arts in Geneva and devoting the rest of his life to painting. He worked alone in a naturalistic manner heavily influenced by Jules Batien-Lepage, with his insistence on working in the open air rather than in the studio. He exhibited for eight years at the Salon des Artistes Francais before becoming vice-president and then president of the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
