Sir John Everett Millais P.R.A
Sir John Everett Millais exhibited his first work at the Royal Academy in 1846 at the age of 16. He won several prizes, including the Gold Medal for historical painting in 1847. Together with Holman Hunt and Dante Gabriel Rossetti he formed the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1848-1849. In 1853 he was elected ARA, effectively dissolving the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Millais became the first English artist to be made a Baronet. He was elected President of the Royal Academy in 1896, but died a few months later.
