Myles Birket Foster

Myles Birkett Foster was born in Tynemouth, Northumbria, England. As well as painting, he provided designs for 'Punch' and the Illustrated London News'. He was a charming interpreter of the English countryside and rural life. His paintings were appreciated as being Pre-Raphaelite in detail and proved even more popular than his illustrations. Painting mainly in watercolors, his rare oil canvases were highly sought after.
