William Mellor

William Mellor was born in Barnsley, England and lived most of his life in Yorkshire. He worked in Ilkley, Scarborough and Harrogate, where he died. His subjects are usually landscapes in North Wales or the West Country. He was a successful artist even though he did not exhibit his paintings in London. There has recently been a renewed recognition of his finely detailed work, and he is now much in demand.
